U-6 Kellogg’s Tony
the Tiger Captures Budweiser Thunderfest
And Lead In The Season Highpoints

Driver Dave Lindsay wins his second race at the
Budweiser Thunderfest. His last victory as a driver came in 1999
when he won the Bill Muncey Memorial driving the U-4 Pocket Savers
Plus. This is the first victory for the U-6 Kellogg’s Tony
the Tiger sponsorship.
After rain postponed the event for Sunday the race
was held on Monday. Teams had ideal conditions with warm weather,
light breeze and calm water. The U-6 placed big in the preliminary
heats scoring two 1st place heat wins and one 2nd place. There were
three boats in the final heat, U-6 Kellogg’s Tony the Tiger,
the U-22 Cellular One and the U-00 Atlas Van Lines driven by rookie
drive Jason Genovich.
Coming down to the start the U-00 Atlas Van Lines
went wide and ran into weeds and shallow waters and had to shut
down. This left it a two boat race between the U-6 and the U-22.
The boats made clean starts. The boats exchanged the lead several
times. The U-6 took the lead for good on lap 4 and went on to capture
the Budweiser Thunderfest. Doing so also put the U-6 Kellogg’s
Tony the Tiger ahead in the RCHRA highpoints by 100 points over
the U-22 Cellular One.
